Counseling with Care
Meet Briana
Hi, I’m Briana, a licensed therapist originally from upstate New York (like many others who’ve found their way to the Triangle!). I’ve been practicing for over 11 years, supporting children, adolescents, families, and adults through life’s transitions, identity exploration, and healing.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in higher education as a college mental health counselor, as a school guidance counselor, and in community mental health settings. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the systems people navigate daily—and how those systems can either support or challenge emotional well-being.
At the heart of my work is a core belief: everyone deserves access to care, compassion, and love—no matter who they are or where they come from. I am especially passionate about working within the LGBTQIA+ community, and have long centered my practice around creating safe, affirming space for queer and trans clients. I provide gender-affirming support at every stage of identity development, including writing letters for gender-affirming medical care as part of a collaborative and respectful process.
My approach is trauma-informed, warm, and client-centered. I meet people where they are, follow their lead, and offer structure or direction when that’s what’s needed. I work from a place of deep respect for each person’s lived experience, and I prioritize emotional safety in every step of the therapeutic process.
I love this work. I feel incredibly lucky each day that people trust me with their stories and allow me to walk alongside them. Outside of sessions, I enjoy listening to live music, doing yoga, and spending time with my family and lifelong friends. If you're looking for an open-minded, affirming therapist who values connection and care, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.

Insurance Coverage
Financial Support
I understand the importance of accessibility to mental health services. While I do not directly accept insurance, I provide a superbill for clients to seek reimbursement from their insurance providers. Additionally, I offer sliding scale fees to ensure that cost is not a barrier to receiving the care and support needed.
